Meet Dr. Cynthia Wilson

ABOUT DR. CYNTHIA WILSON, PSY.D., LP, QEEG-DL

A Career Built at the Intersection of Science, Clinical Practice, and the Law

Dr. Cynthia Wilson is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 16 years of post-doctoral experience serving individuals, legal professionals, and fellow clinicians across Florida and beyond. Her career reflects a rare combination of clinical depth, forensic experience, and specialized neurological expertise that distinguishes her practice in ways few psychologists can offer.

Dr. Wilson earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Tampa, an APA accredited program, building on two prior graduate degrees in clinical and counseling psychology. Her academic foundation is broad and rigorous, and her career has taken her from community mental health and foster care systems to private practice, veteran services, and forensic consultation.

Forensic and Legal Experience

Dr. Wilson's forensic experience spans nearly two decades and multiple evaluation contexts. She has conducted psychological evaluations for the Department of Children and Families, custody and parenting assessments for family court proceedings, adoption home studies, and VA Compensation and Pension examinations for veterans seeking service-connected disability determinations. Early in her career she served as Legal Liaison for the Emerald Coast Division of Children's Home Society, navigating the intersection of mental health and legal systems long before she formalized her forensic practice.

This breadth of experience gives Dr. Wilson a practical, grounded understanding of what legal professionals need; clear opinions, defensible reports, and a psychologist who understands how the legal system works and what is at stake.

Clinical Expertise

Dr. Wilson's clinical experience spans the full lifespan; from children as young as two to geriatric adults; across private practice, community mental health, rehabilitation settings, school systems, and foster care. She has provided psychotherapy, diagnostic assessment, trauma treatment, group therapy, and crisis intervention across multiple states and clinical populations.

She is one of a small number of psychologists in Northwest Florida who holds dual board certifications in neurofeedback, as a Board Certified Neurofeedback Clinician through the Biofeedback Certification International Association and as a QEEG Diplomate through the International QEEG Board. This specialized training in brain mapping and neurofeedback gives Dr. Wilson unique insight into neurological contributors to psychological functioning, expertise that informs both her clinical consultation and her forensic evaluation work.

National Leadership in Neuroregulation

Dr. Wilson currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Society for Neuroregulation and Research (ISNR) and holds the position of Education Committee Chairperson. In this capacity she shapes the continuing education and professional development of neuroregulation practitioners across the country and internationally.

This leadership position places Dr. Wilson among a small and elite group of professionals driving the science and practice of neuroregulation forward at the national level. For attorneys and clinicians alike it signals something important, Dr. Wilson is not simply a practitioner in this field. She is a recognized leader within it.

Teaching and Research Background

Dr. Wilson has served as an adjunct professor at Argosy University, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in psychological statistics, physiological psychology, abnormal psychology, and interviewing techniques. Her research background includes a doctoral dissertation on learned optimism as an intervention for fibromyalgia, and she has published in regional media and presented at professional conferences on topics including stress reduction and depression identification.

Earlier in her career she worked as a Fisheries Biologist with the National Marine Fisheries Service, an experience that speaks to her scientific rigor, comfort with independent fieldwork, and ability to operate effectively in demanding, data-driven environments.

Dr. Wilson offers clinical case consultation to fellow psychologists and mental health professionals navigating complex, diagnostically challenging, or ethically nuanced cases. This is peer-level professional consultation, not supervision, drawing on her broad clinical background, forensic training, and specialized neurological expertise. Consultation is available remotely and designed to fit the schedules of busy practitioners.
